MS spoiled us when upgrading from Win/98, Win/SE, Win/2000 to XP. They called it "in place" upgrading. All desktop, app's and software installed was automatically transferred to the new environment XP. Not so from XP to Vista or 7. Bad guys were following with their bad guy ways as you upgraded. Must perform a clean install from scratch, install and test whether current software will work. I fell into this trap assuming the Win/98 thru Win XP upgrade to Vista. Don't do it!!
