Hi Gerry, had many similar problems with DX when converting from image to non-image. Here's an email conversation I had with Barb when we were trying to debug the image file conversion in DX.

Joe:

It's in position 243 (relative to 0). The image indicator is "I". The IB include file is called Cfiles.inc and it's in XTL.

Ok – for some reason the ‘image’ check box is unchecked – I guess it didn’t come across in the conversion, but all the fields are calculated as image. What is the position in #CFILES for the image flag – I will put it back in and then try unchecking it DBMGR.

Yes I think there is! As I recall all you have to do is uncheck the "image" check box on the File tab of DbMgr and it will recalculate all the field positions for you.

Hi Barb,

I am looking for a suggestion here. I am in the process of converting all image files for a customer. No problem – convert the files and recompile the programs (after removing all the image statements). The problem is the old and new report generator. In the old report generator I am restricted in specifying the file size to 3 numerics. For instance – the inventory history file was 756 bytes as an image file and is now 1600 bytes as a non-image. Ok – no problem, let’s just not use the old report generator and move onto to DX. I need a way to modify the starting position of each one of the fields. In the old report generator I was able to edit each one of the fields and as I tabbed out of one field it calculated what the starting position of the next field would be, I would make note, and use it when I entered the next field. There is no way for me to do this in DBMGR, or is there?

Thanks,

Joe
