There is an association for BAT files. It shows an icon with a pair of gears. Since BAT files are "Command Scripts" that are run from the DOS prompt, you can't "launch" BAT's as you would a DOC, TXT, or other file that is loaded into a executable for processing.

Windows still does a "DEL *.*" on the directory before it does the "RD".

Maybe you should look at PowerShell. Build a script and then launch the script processor.
