is that it works fine as long as your string is padded out with blanks to its full length before applying the ENCRYPT.
length 10 & local a$
a$ = '123ABC' ! or that value is input from the screen
ENCRYPT .... ! will result in a stored value of 123ABC followed by four bad characters when DECRYPTed

a$ = '123ABC'
a$ = a$ + ' ' ! or ADJUSTL as an alternative
ENCRYPT .... ! will result in four 123ABC followed by four trailing blanks when DECRYPTed
