The workstations should renew their lease automatically with the DHCP server. Typically, at the 50% mark. So my 8 day leases renew at 4 days. No itervention by the LAN administrator should be required if the DHCP server is set up correctly. 8 days was the default for my Windows 2003 server. Even with a one day lease, a 24/7 workstation should renew automatically.
If your forcing a new IP every day, then Comet won't be able to follow. Nor will DHCP leasing do you much good.
Jim is correct that any server should have a fixed IP. My XP workstation hosts eComet and CometAnywhere and it really should be fixed. I've ca skate by for my office system. Not something I'd do for a customer :)
