Can be both Keith. I'm looking at installing a NAS unit at a client to deal with both. They want a common storage spot and don't need the overhead of a 'server'. One note, since these units are getting quite large, consider the option of getting a device that is raided. Either raid1 or raid5. The one I was looking at is a 1tb unit (4 * 250meg drives), raid5. Cold swap - in event of a drive failure, turn unit off, replace defective drive, turn unit back on and the operating system (lynux based) will rebuild the container. Oh yes, order a spare drive. Unit cost was bout $760 canadian. In my case, I'm going to use one of the pcs hard drives on the network as my backup system for the nas unit.
Each file can be a maximum of 1MB in length Uploaded files will be purged from the server on a regular basis.
