It's almost like you're reading my mind...

I was thinking of raising a "wish list" item for EDIT, when I realised that I could just as easily edit it using a print to # and then read back the string. Once I figure out the use of #, I'll write a page on the Wiki... couldn't find one because I get no result when I put in "#" to the Wiki Search... it keeps telling me that after removing all the extraneous characters, there was no search argument!

The only other think I can think of for a "wish list" would be a third parameter on POS, for giving the starting character (default = 1)

Thanx!

P.S. BTW... I once worked on a machine (Friden System TEN) that had only 13 user instructions in the Assembler... yet... EDIT was one, and another useful one was FN (Form a Number)... that basically un-EDITED and returned a number with a return code set if it encountered a minus sign... which was OK, once you got used to all SSNOs and telephone numbers being negative :)

System Ten was a very simple machine that was used by Singer to control cash registers, but had enough juice to produce reports and do accounting with a simple file system very reminiscent of COMET.
