Thanks Robert, at least I know its possible.
So I blunder on, tried doing it again and both versions of Ibinstall, the initial one and the recent one both say that Ultraedit has not been installed on this PC.
I noticed that uE had been installwed into C:\IDM Computer Solutions\UltraEdit , so I moved it to just C:}Ultraedit in case that was hard code somewhere. No Difference.
I'll uninstall UE and start again.
