Usually leave my 2008 server on. Last friday came back from client 6:00 pm, walked into my office and was hearing a click-click-click sound. What's this?? Discovered sound was coming from my 2008 server. Oh SH_T!! Have RAID 5, now considering 10. 4 discs. Discs 1 thru 3 light up like XMAS!! RAID-5 trying to correct itself?? What to do? Definition of RAID-5 is: Pop any single drive, replace with another and RAID-5 will re-build?? Not my experience! Probability of 2 of 4 SEAGATE 466 GB drives failing?? Found that 2008 will accept the ADAPTEC 2410 controller drivers but their management software will NOT install?? Not compliant with 2008! So 2008 with ADAPTEC's 2410 card?? I buy a lot of stuff from STAPLES along with my local hardware supplier. 4 minus 3 is about 1.3 TB. So bought a WD 500 GB replacement. Attempted to replace drives 1 thru 4 one at a time. No results. Finally assumed array was fried and will have to start from scratch.
Each file can be a maximum of 1MB in length Uploaded files will be purged from the server on a regular basis.
