Prefix vs extension -- compatibility

Compatibility MUST be maintained both over time and from end user to end user. One of the best things about Comet is the ability to create and modify programs very quickly. Once you know the language, and maintain a certain style of programming, you can be extremely productive as a programmer. That's the only way custom programs can be economically built today. If a developer has 100 end users, all with different systems, it would be difficult to remember which one was which. A configuration option won't work here either, because you would have to remember which customer had which option.

Can we have a vote here? We could very easily change the file system to add an extension to the data portion of keyed files. Is that what everyone wants?
