The Import utility takes care of deleting any existing definition records for a file's definition before importing the new records. This is important in case the new definition has eliminated any of the old fields or links. Using a generic copy utility wouldn't do that for you. You'd have to manually delete any old records. Since there's a dedicated utility to take care of all this for you I didn't think it would matter what file type was used as long as it was easy for you. I expected text files to be easy especially since you don't have to worry about the qdir. I'll tell you that using a text file certainly made it easier for me. Still not convinced? What do others think?
