Keith:

I'm bundling DocMgr, pdfFactory, and a "forever" document archive as a package of enhancements.

1) pdfFactory (or Adobe Acrobat) makes PDF files possible from Comet. Since it's a Windows print driver, the users get PDF capability in all their Windows programs.

2) DocMgr represents a direct replacement of QSPOOL. With universal PDF files (other file types eventually) versus the proprietory QSPOOL sort of text files. DocMgr is the short term archive that the users control (print, delete, import, export, etc). Users can view the PDF with Adobe Reader and from there email and fax. Lots of options. And, you can't put reports with Windows commands in QSPOOL.

3) The "forever" archive receives a copy of every "important" PDF file (journals, registers, and important month end reports) the customer wants to keep. I put the archive somewhere out on the network, separate from Comet, and only management users have access. The pitch on the archive is to cut out printing, filing, and storage of important accounting documents.

4) For me, a lot of support calls about "I can't find", "the auditors need", etc will go away or be easy to remedy.
