Its time to either explore more detail about this process or modify the design in such a way that the user does not see the slowdown. I have some ideas, but first, tell me:

Are the source and destination folders on the same disk drive? Machine?

Would it be faster for the server to do the move or the workstation?

I am thinking about spawning another task to do the PDF generation and copy. Do you have any idea about which part of the process takes the most time? The PDF generation or the copy/move?
