The CometServer install puts the Cpmet console EXE's in the Startup folder of "all" users. If you remote connect to a server as a secondary session, the Comet consoles will start in that that session too. There may also be Comet consoles started in the server's console session. So, check Task Manager for multiple instances of the consoles, or anything else Comet, that stopping "CometServices" failed to do.

I try to remember to remove the Startup EXE's after each new update of CometServer.
