Nulls: I have a lot more experience with SQL/etc than I do with Comet, and nulls have always worked fine; if you're trying to read a MySQL database from Comet and having problems there, I'd suggest it's a Comet issue. You can check by running the same query directly against the MySQL database using a frontend (MySQL Administrator) or the command line client -- not sure how your environment is setup.
