I have a similar lock up problem with programs written since c2k4. Old programs fire right up without issue, but any of our newer ones simply hang the session at the prompt line and REALLY make it difficult to kill the partition. I've just started diving into this issue. The newer programs all use a common shell of usefiles for a template. There must be something in there that c32 is having a problem with but I have not identified it as of yet.
