I am having trouble getting Comet2004 (Build 334) to run using the 'C' option for the server to try to utilize CFAM.

=20

I have a 2 user license for Security Server (using Ver. 3.07) and Comet Serve32 (using Ver. 4.02).

=20

My system configuration is as follows:

Server - Node Name DELL - Win XP PRO Ver. 5.1 Service Pack 1 (Build 2600).

Client - Node Name GATEWAY - Win 2000 PRO Ver. 5.0 Service Pack 4 (Build 2195).

I loaded the server modules using CometServerProducts.exe on the server (DELL) and it seemed to complete OK. I didn't get any prompts to load as a service but on re-boot the Security Server and File Serve icons appeared on the task bar, so I am assuming that CometServerProducts.exe automatically installs them as a service. In Windows Task Manager CFileSrv.exe, CometNT Service and CSecSrv.exe all appear in the processes window. I then ran CometWorkstation.exe on the server and the client and located Cometlib.dll in the appropriate Windows32 directories.

When the server is configured as a type 'S' and all directories are configured as GLOBAL type 'S', Comet loads fine on the server and the client and the Security Server Console shows as secure Comet2004, Comet File Server and Comet COM extensions. The Comet Serve 32 Console shows the correct number of Legacy Connections and users but no CFAM entries (I would assume because there are no type 'C' servers or directories). A sample of the .INI file follows

I then change the server type to 'C' for the server and leave all directories as GLOBAL type 'S' as below:

I then load Comet and get the following error message:

=20

Comet Startup

The Comet Net Server "N01" at address: 169.254.1.0 could not be found.

=20

Comet also fails to find any Comet directories.

A dump of start-up details follows.

I am guessing that CFamNetServe.exe is failing to load and Comet does not recognize the type 'C' server.

=20

Any help and suggestions would be appreciated.
