There are 3 ways we could give you this kind of control. The choice depends on whether you can handle writing the app on the other side of the comet interface.

We could provide you with:

1. A DLL where you would write the DLL in whatever language you wish. We would provide a way to open this DLL (like a file???). and you would execute methods and properties.

2. A COM object. We would (somehow) provide the linkage needed to talk to the com object. This would be a read/write interface. No event triggers etc.

3. Or, we could implement the gateway approach we supported with the serial driver, fax driver and odbc driver of old. The interface would be that of a comet device. You could open/close/ send controls/read and write it using a LUN. Again no method for triggering comet events (at least for now). We would release the source of the exe's such as the odbcdrv.exe so you could build your own. We could also make the buffer much larger.

Of course, all of this is comet32 only. The question is what does everyone want? If we released the source of the odbcdrv.exe program, we would not need to support it. Someone else that knows ODBC could support it.
