You shouldn't have to manually install the MS VS Redistributables. Comet.exe should do it automatically for you the first time you run it. I would suggest uninstalling what you manually installed. Then, making sure you have admin privileges, just unzip the .450 release into your Comet folder and fire up Comet.exe. It should do the rest.
