Comet Launcher error

This is an NT network upgrading to comet2004. XP workstation is up and running fine. All other workstations are Windows98 (SE). On those stations comet errors with the following: Comet Launcher---Class does not support automation or does not support expected interface. The comet splash screen does not even load.
What does this error mean? (NT server is running cometserver32 vsn 4.02 and comet securityserver32 vsn 3.07)
