BB:

actually LP1 and LP5 are line printers with pin-feed paper.... real "Hard Copy" dot-matrix printers.... although one of them has "green-bar" and the other has Invoices/Checks and other forms... I thought that direct printing would still be direct printing, regardless of Comet16 or Comet32

for archiving, we specify SPL which goes to a SPOOLed printer which are then manually moved to SPA (SPOOL ARCHIVE)

Am I to understand that using DocMgr will necessarily involve converting all "SPOOL"ed output to .PDF files before archiving? I never thought much about this, but it would surely facilitate things by off-loading the internal navigation within the document to ADOBE... especially, the finding of text within the .PDF, which is much simpler/familiar/intuitive than the MATCH command in SPOOL

the focus of my question, of course, was that there are no program changes that have to be made.... all that seems necessary to me is that we may have to re-name the SPOOL alias (SPL) in the .INI (before the SYSGEN) and then change the control file to set the default printer to SPL or whatever.... after that it should all flow thru easily

Thanx

Bob "A"
