If I understand you correctly, the change could just be made in your Comet.ini file for SYSGEN. The name of the printer doesn't have to change, just it's properties. So if your LP1 currently is an auto-spool printer for QSPOOL:
Printer = LP1,W,A,SP1,MyWindowsPrinter,,;
You could instead configure it for a pdf archive like this:
Printer = LP1,P,X,SPL:PDFDOCS,Adobe PDF,,;
Now when you send something to LP1 it will go to the PDFDOCS archive for DocMgr.
