We were just trying to follow the old Qantel behavior. It seems that a (cr) at the end of a format doesn't have any noticeable effect. A (cr) in the middle advances to the beginning of the next line (it puts out a cr/lf). a (lf) mnemonic just puts out a line feed. All of this is too complex for my little brain. I leave the heavy lifting to you guys who make the big bucks ;-)
