The new emailptr DES program only does plain text authentication. NO els which is required by gmail etc. We are working on this enhancement. Good luck with the no longer supported sendmail program. You have the source. If you manage to make it work with authentication, I know there are many others on this forum who would be interested.

Sorry to sound so negative, but this is a sticky issue with no readily apparent solution.
