Found this article Micro$oft kb/322090

Tried it, it is ridiculously easy to use.

Now what I'd really like, is the ability to "plug" a custom built VB app to print, something that would be able to identify the dot-txt as more than just "plain text". I would like something that would allow me to "associate" the output of some specific IB programs so that a reprint or partial reprint would be possible.

Here's what I mean:

I currently have a VB program that will read a QSPOOL queue and allow me to print or re-print parts of a document. This comes in handy when you need to re-print some pages. A custom written program can be "educated" about the print jobs.

I also have Zebra labels (using ZPL-II), the output is plain text but the embedded commands allow for easy recognition of label start and end. Reprinting a label range would be handy.

Another thing I'd love to try... Currently it is impossible to "spool" a windows print job. I already use a standard print routine that format reports to the specified printer based on the desired width in columns (measured by the width of the column headers). It would be fun to simply throw the report as a plain text to the DocMgr with no page break and have an unspool program take over and format the whole document at print time.

Obviously my clients have needs that might be out of the ordinary order-entry-invoice-printing. Being in the direct mail business they print tens of thousands of pages and thousands of shipping labels daily using a variety of laser and document center printers as well as a variety of label printers. Using everything from PCL, PostScript, PlanetPress XML, ZPL-II and various Windows printers...

The SPOOL vs DocMgr is the last hurdle that prevents my client to fully switch to Comet32
