if I can take code that I know works and convert it to what I need.

That is already done in the exisiting QSPOOL, when the Spool Message is retrieved from the actual SPOOL file and displayed on the screen (along with number of lines and pages), it's just that I don't have access to that source

I'm sure that when I start producing print output directly into the PDF or TXT archives, I'll have exactly what I want.

the problem is now, when I have to catch up with as much as 10 years worth of spool files.

finally... in looking at the spool files in UE/hex editor mode.... I can see that SPOOL files are actually IMAGE files... since there seem to be the tell-tale length attribute bytes just before the strings.

now it all makes sense why SPOOL won't work under Comet32
