Server upgrade

We are about to upgrade our server and Windows from 2003 to 2008 R2 (64 bit).
We are currently on Comet Server 801 and Comet 2007 v 388.
I realise we need to upgrade to server v 11.4 but as we are not yet ready to upgrade the Comet workstations, which version of Comet do we need to upgrade to or can we stay with 388 in the mean time.
