I am talking about Comet16 programs running on Comet32. There are lots of 'old' programs out there using FSTAT. I know that I have a few dozens in use and I am not talking about my personal tools.
Taking the Num of Sub(FSTAT$,31,3) would work in all your case. Keeping KeyLength < 100 in position 31,2 for Comet16 would assure that legacy code would still work.
I know I can fix CED and I will. It will take a while to re-install all over the place.
Is there a guaranty that position 33 is ALWAYS empty for older releases of Comet ?
When was the 100+ key size introduced? Is it Comet16 also or just Comet32 ?
