What I'm seeing is that the typical IT Services group will recommend a Virtualized environment. The server will have an O/S installed on it and it will be left in a pristine condition, nothing else installed on it. If they need a Comet Server, a server VM is installed. Same for Exchange server, DNS server. If you go this route you'll have to make a decision on Hyper-V vs VMWare. I run VMWare on my RI server, most of my end-users are on Hyper-V because their IT services people are familiar with it. I let the IT services people deal with backups. If the end-user wants to be backed up for Comet I discuss the Comet Disaster Recovery utility with them.
