I guess that when I tried to go to the line with the row number the same as the SCREEN=row,col I was actually beyond the last line, and I was wandering down into (WC) territory.....

Thanx again for the clarification.... I'm going to use (WC) in future since I don't have to keep moving message lines around as screens change.... this is a nice "hack" (in the good sense of that word)
