".... There is no mechanism for determining the name of the printer the user selected. Why do you need to close the printer? "

I am wondering if this is still true ? My client has a new printer with a built-in 3-holes punch. There is no Windows printing command to turn it on or off available to the programs. I had to configure it twice, once as a regular Windows printer and once with the Punch always ON (there is not enough paper sources for letter, legal, tabloid and prepunched paper).

I can redirect all printing that requires 3-holes to use the 'L3H' printer but I can't tell if the other reports using the "?" type printer 'LPA' would get to use that printer... If so I need to offset the left margin an extra 0.6" to skip the holes.

So can we tell which Windows printer was selected? Either by full name or by Comet device?

I don't trust the users to do it right.

-----------

By the way, I searched the wiki.... Type '?' printer is not documented.
