A program called Console.exe is what reads the listing file and reports the error count to UE. Check the properties of your compile tool in UE. You'll find it under "Advanced"->"Tool Configuration". Choose "Compile". The command line for it should look like this:
"[Your Windows Temp Folder Path]\Console.Exe" /c "%F" /t /R%r

The path should be the path to your Windows Temp folder. The update date of Console.exe in your Comet folder (as well as your Windows temp folder) should be 11/21/2011.
