Generally, you would not need to do anything. The background partition running the xap program would have ended and all files would have been closed.
It seems you are seeing other behavior here. Perhaps some further detail would help us.
Each file can be a maximum of 1MB in length Uploaded files will be purged from the server on a regular basis.
