I think philosophically Comet32 is working properly. Once you hit a WAKEUP statement the program is suspended until the wakeup time is reached. This means it won't receive or process the CANCEL event.

Attached is a small test program that uses SetTimer to accomplish what you want. When the user clicks "Proceed" a 1-minute timer is started. The Event Handler will get triggered when the timer expires and also if the user clicks CANCEL.
