Yes it is confusing. First, a key check is only done for the primary keys. Now notice that the "Add Key Field" and "Remove Key Field" buttons are disabled for extended keyed files. That's because Comet already knows where the key is in the record and how long it is. You can't change that.

For legacy keyed files you need to tell key check what the properties of the key are. That's what "Key Field Information" is for. You'll see that the buttons are enabled for legacy keyed files.

So, if it's an extended keyed file, you should ignore that part of the dialog.
