Was it the CA host that experienced the Comet crash? Was a dump file produced? Look for C32Errors.log in the Comet System Logs folder. Can you get a copy of the E35 from KeyCheck from the Error Log program?
Honestly, if the key data is in the record, about all you can do if you really think the file is damaged (short of restoring a backup) is to rebuild the file. Even looking at the logs mentioned above won't be much help at this point, but you'll know what to do if there's a next time.
Are you really running Comet version .480? That would be from 2013!!
