I lost the thread on this and don't know where we are, but I was thinking in terms of the compiler doing the add to the QDIR, not CAPI and I was thinking in terms of looking for the file (in the QDIR that contains the source?) and adding it if it's found.
At the very least, have the compiler report "Can not find file" rather than the obscure error 39 it reports now.
