Hi Otto. It pretty much impossible for me to analyze your problem with out more information. The one thing I can tell you is that cosCWnd$ is not a 1 byte variable - it is 4 bytes long. To test for a NULL handle you should compare you returned handle with NullHandle$ which is defined as "@00000000@".
