Library files are from a long gone era (1994 or so) - perhaps before your time?? There was a utility called BINDER that allowed you to bind multiple object files into a single .lib file. At runtime, the object would be extracted from the library and executed. You never saw the .obj in the directory.

At the time, the advantage to the library method was that directory searches were faster because there were fewer files in the qdir. This goes back to the days of Comet 503!
