We've been doing a lot of work with Acrobat. Using some OLEDB stuff we are able to control some of the functions of Acrobat and the Acrobat Reader.
One rather interresting option is the ability to use AcrobatReader to "fill" and print an Acrobat Form. The form cannot be saved with Reader but it can be printed. Most of the USPS forms are already preset as Acrobat Forms. The forms need to be created using the full Acrobat, but only the Reader is required to use them.
Abobe use to allow free download of the SDK but latest version does not seem to be free no more.
Some of the code is in C++... some assembly required :-)
