Hi Barbara. Thanks for that. I forgot about that 50 limit. I appear to have moved the files (!!SPOOL & SP1JOBS) from a directory USE within the 1st 50 to SPL which was outside the the range and at one stage I had !!SPOOL in USE and SP1JOBS in SPL. It also explains that a file held within two or more directories could result in the wrong version of the file being accessed at startup unless the directory is specified in the OPEN statement and the directory is within the 1st 50 dab's.
In my 2k4 .ini configuration SPL is within the 1st 50, that's why it worked.
I have tested Version341 and found the same error occured.
Now with the correct configuration all is OK with the latest version.
