I agree that MESSAGE$ is too small. My solution was to add a global PASS$ in COMMON. Made it 128 so it could hold the largest key. Works for me 99%. For the rest, I use # buffer to pass the entire record or a group of variables.

Clipboard sounds OK too. However, isn't there a risk of not getting back what you pasted. Or, overwriting something the user might be doing in another Windows program. I've seen but not used "Clipbook" where multiple clips can be kept for pasting.
