The VRFY command always gives the following response:
VRFY gina@signature.net
252 2.5.2 Cannot VRFY user; try RCPT to attempt delivery (or try finger)
I looked into finger. It is a separate protocol. RFC742. Forget it.
My guess is that there is no way to verify an email address or spammers would be attempting it all the time.
