In the NY Times article about Apple's migration to the Intel chip I found these lines:
"Apple unveiled a technology called Rosetta that will make it possible for a user's existing programs to run unmodified on Intel-based computers.
Rosetta is based in part on technology developed by Transitive Ltd which has a novel approach to making it possible to run programs on disparate kinds of computers."
Novel idea that, running programs written for one processor on another. However, it's worth checking out Transitive's site. They have cool ideas like optimize the 10% of the code that constitutes 90% of the run time.
