thanks for the input Grant. The only problem I have with the scenario you gave is, like last night, people who were supposed to exit their programs and close comet so that month end could be processed, would do neither. Consequently a terse message, no matter how terse, and a great idea, would not work after hours. But this will give the necessary people the place to go to (a) shut down comet and then (b) give their own verbal terse message the next day.
