We are unable to print from COMET to a Windows 2000 Server shared printer
from a Windows 2000 Professional computer.
A shared printer (HP4K-CAROL) is created on a Windows 2000 Server (CUPID).
And a user (on a Windows 2000 Professional pc) is set up to access this
shared printer (see attachment).
The Comet.ini file is modified under the user's profile to use "LW5" to
reference the shared printer (see below):
[PRINTERS]
Printer = LP5,N ,N, ,LPT5,,; WHSEOFFICE
Printer = LAB,W ,N, ,HP LaserJet 6P,,; Annette Bobe local
printer
Printer = LW5,W ,N, ,HP4K-CAROL on CUPID,,; HP LASERJET
4000T at CREDIT DEPT-FERN
In an attempt to isolate the problem, we set up the above on a second
Windows 2000 Professional pc, and still encounter the same problem - unable
to print form COMET.
However, when we did the same on a Windows 95B pc, we were able to print (to
"LW5") from COMET.
