Yes, GENUSE does show the position and length of each field. As I recall the way this works, you must first define the file in #FILES before you can use GENUSE. If you've done this, then you already know the position of each field because you had to tell #FILES. With the "Import from FORMAT" utility all you need is a FORMAT statement (and the declarations). You end up with a .d00 instead of a #FILES definition.

So, what we have here are 2 different methods that accomplish similar things. You get to pick what you have to start with (#FILES definition or FORMAT) and what you want to end up with (FORMAT or .d00)!
