Which version of Comet are you running? Neither Jim nor I can reproduce this. The doc launches correctly on the remote.
The DES program determines whether you're remote or not by doing a DSTAT of ITERM$. If remote, it transfers the file over, then launches it. You can help us out by adding a debug msg to the DES program. The source is #EXTPTR in the XTL zip. It's a small program. Look for the "PostClose:" label. After the DSTAT test, if it thinks you are not remote, it will branch to LaunchIt otherwise it does the VerifyFile and launch.
