Thanks everyone for your feedback. You folks on the backup issue are correct. We did have some problems with our open file module with Veritas Backup Exec, so we stopped using it. We really should focus on getting that working properly.
Jon, thanks for the tips on setting up the security server on our other server. I think thats going to be a good route to take, regardless of anything else. I'll probably be contacting you on a couple things before I make that move.
Barbara, I'm not sure whats up with this version vs. other versions. We never had a problem with the net start & stop until this one. If there is some type of debug version you could send that would display progress on the startup of the security server service startup, I would be happy to try it out and see if we can diagnose what may be happening.
