Holiday? What holiday? We've been busy! Today we made several new releases including a new feature we hope you'll like. But, first, here's a list of some of the changes you were waiting for:
- Grant, we have a couple of things for you:
- The 6.01 Server release solves the E9A you reported when you deleted all the docs from DocMgr.
- The .366 Comet release cures the "odd" dialog problems you were having.
- Tom, the .366 Comet release solves the problem you were having with the names of .pdf files when the serial number rolled past 999.
- Jon, we think we found an explanation for why you occasionally had problems shutting down the file server. Try version 6.01.
- Stan, the 6.01 server release should eliminate your E9B.
- For those of you who were confused because the Security Server didn't accurately display the number of CA 2006 licenses, we think you'll like the 6.01 version better.
And, now, we are pleased to introduce our latest new feature, QDIRcache for CFAM. The QDIRcache is a memory copy of the qdir entries for each file in a Comet directory. The cache is built when the first user of a directory logs in. The qdir on disk is only accessed if a new file is created, a file is erased, or a change is made to the attributes of a file. Other qdir functions such as accessing a file's attributes when it is opened are performed from the cache. The advantages are twofold: - Performance improvement: File server operations that previously required reading the qdir from disk now can access the information from memory.
- No more sharing violations: Because the qdirs do not remain open continuously you are now able to access your Comet folders from outside Comet without having to stop the file server. This means you can perform that daily backup or install the latest UTL release more conveniently.
Happy New Year!
